Bangkok, Thailand, 23 July 2026 – The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration among government, private sector, academia, and technology innovators to accelerate Thailand’s AI transformation, highlighting that trusted partnerships, advanced digital infrastructure, and investment in people will be critical to positioning Thailand as an AI hub for ASEAN.
Speaking via video at the Huawei Thailand Digital & AI Summit 2026, Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaichanok Chidchob shared Thailand’s vision for advancing AI development through three key pillars: Infrastructure, Trust, and People. He emphasized that the future of AI cannot be created by any single organization alone, but requires collective efforts from all sectors to build an inclusive and sustainable AI ecosystem.
“Thailand is advancing as a real-world AI Governance Sandbox, where companies, researchers and regulators can work together to translate global principles into practical implementation,” he said.
Mr. Patchara Anuntasilpa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, further highlighted that AI and digital technologies are becoming key engines for transforming Thailand’s economy, strengthening national competitiveness, and supporting sustainable growth. Under the theme “Scaling Thailand’s Digital Economy through Trustworthy AI,” he emphasized the government’s commitment to advancing AI development, strengthening digital capabilities, promoting future industries, and ensuring that all sectors can benefit from digital transformation.
He stressed that Thailand’s next step is to scale the digital economy through Trustworthy AI, where innovation must be built on security, responsibility, and confidence. Thailand’s digital economy is expected to continue strong growth, with Broad Digital GDP projected to expand by 4.2% to more than THB 5.6 trillion in 2026. The country’s progress in AI readiness, including its ranking second among ASEAN countries in the Government AI Readiness Index 2025 by Oxford Insights, reflects Thailand’s strong policy foundation and commitment to digital transformation.
To build a sustainable Trustworthy AI ecosystem, Mr. Patchara highlighted three priorities: strengthening AI governance aligned with international standards, developing secure and accessible AI infrastructure, and enhancing collaboration among government, industry, academia, and technology partners. He noted that partnerships with technology leaders such as Huawei will be essential in advancing AI innovation, developing digital talent, and accelerating AI adoption across key industries.
Responding to Thailand’s AI vision, David Li, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., reaffirmed Huawei’s long-term commitment to supporting Thailand’s intelligent transformation through advanced AI infrastructure, ecosystem collaboration, trusted AI solutions, and talent development.
“We are entering a rapidly evolving AI era, but speed alone is not enough. We need AI that is reliable, practical, and capable of delivering real value in real-world scenarios. We need AI that can unlock the full potential of every enterprise,” Mr. Li said.
He noted that AI adoption is entering a new phase, moving from experimentation toward large-scale industrial deployment. As AI applications, intelligent agents, and digital services expand, enterprises require stronger foundations including intelligent computing, high-quality data, secure AI governance, and AI-ready talent.
Mr. Li introduced Huawei’s framework for accelerating intelligent transformation based on five key priorities: identifying high-value AI scenarios, developing trustworthy AI models, establishing trusted data foundations, implementing full-lifecycle AI governance, and cultivating AI-native talent.
“The greatest risk in the AI era is not making the wrong move — it is making no move at all,” Mr. Li said.
He emphasized that Thailand’s AI development should focus on building solutions that understand the country’s language, culture, industries, and business requirements. By combining open innovation with local capabilities, Thailand can develop trustworthy AI solutions that enhance digital sovereignty, accelerate industrial transformation, and strengthen long-term competitiveness.
The “Thailand AI Ecosystem Initiative: Co-Building a Leading AI Hub in ASEAN” will be officially launched at the summit as an open collaborative platform bringing together government, academia, industry, research institutions, startups, AI innovators, and technology providers. The initiative aims to accelerate AI innovation, nurture talent development, and build a strong, sustainable AI ecosystem to support Thailand’s ambition of becoming a leading AI hub in ASEAN. Distinguished partners will join the launch ceremony to demonstrate a shared commitment to advancing Thailand’s AI future.
Recognizing that people are central to AI transformation, Huawei reaffirmed its commitment to developing Thailand’s next generation of digital professionals. Through the Huawei ASEAN Academy and collaboration with universities, government agencies, customers, and ecosystem partners, Huawei continues to expand AI education, technical training, professional certifications, and executive development programs, with the goal of helping cultivate 100,000 AI talents and supporting Thailand’s ambition to become the AI Talent Hub for ASEAN.
Beyond strategic discussions, the two-day summit showcased Huawei’s latest AI innovations and industry practices, demonstrating how next-generation AI infrastructure, open collaboration, and ecosystem partnerships are enabling Thailand’s intelligent transformation. Highlights included the Atlas 950 SuperPoD, designed to support next-generation AI computing, and open-source large language models (LLMs).
As part of the summit, Huawei also hosted the Huawei Thailand Suppliers Convention 2026 under the theme “One Ecosystem, Collaborating for Success,” bringing together more than 500 representatives from over 130 supplier companies. Huawei also launched the Huawei Thailand Data Center Ecosystem Alliance, strengthening collaboration with partners to support Thailand’s growing demand for AI-ready infrastructure and intelligent computing capabilities.
Concluding his keynote, Mr. Li reaffirmed Huawei’s commitment to being a trusted partner in Thailand’s AI journey.
