The 8th year of ETDA begins here with “Future Economy and Internet Governance: Big Change to Big Chance”– the start of Thai people’s education in preparation for the transition into a fully digital age. Meet experts in cyber technology, ready to share information and dive deep into over 30 topics, as well as public and private sectors, who are preparing to bring the best in technology and value-adding innovations to showcase from 23rd – 25th July 2018 at Royal Paragon Hall, 5th Floor, Siam Paragon.

(23 July 2561) Air Chief Marshal Dr. Prajin Juntong, Deputy Prime Minister, revealed that the 8th anniversary, “Future Economy and Internet Governance: Big Change to Big Chance” by the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (Public Organization) or ETDA, will be a stage where visitors will be able to see the big picture of the changes happening in Thailand during the transition to a Digital Economy, which will bring digital technology into every aspect of driving the country forwards, including closing the digital divide gap, creating opportunities, and building the local economy, making Thailand stronger and more connected to the rest of the world. It is also intended as the starting point of education for the Thai people to ensure that they will be ready for the changes that will happen, and ready to step into the real digital era, which will uplift the standards of living for the Thai people in a sustainable way.

Today, the world has moved into a digital economy and society, where digital technology has become a part of people’s lives in a way that has created changes in the structures of economy activity, such as in production, sales, service. It has also impacted other social activities as well, including the relationships between people. As a result, Thailand is pushing forward in adjusting to the changes by bringing digital technology in as part of a strategy to drive Thailand’s policies through Thailand 4.0, driving the economy and society of Thailand to be stable, prosperous and sustainable.

Dr.Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, said that the government has a clear policy in supporting Thailand’s use of technology and innovation in driving the economy from the villagers and ensuring that it is accessible to communities at every level. “Future Economy and Internet Governance: Big Change to Big Chance” will help to stimulate every organization and every visitor into seeing the value and importance of bringing digital technology into driving Thailand towards a fully realized Digital Thailand. It will enable the strengthening of knowledge, the sharing of experience and practical applications of digital technology in adding value to the economy of Thailand. It will also build the capabilities of businesses and create jobs for citizens, as well as help to stimulate more interest in the digital industry from leading corporations both nationally and internationally.

Ms.Surangkana Wayuparb, Executive Director and CEO of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (Public Organization) or ETDA said that this event has received a high level of cooperation from the public and private sectors, both nationally and internationally. It is estimated that there will be over 5,000 visitors over the 3 days of the event, which will include EXHIBITION & SHOWCASE, which will highlight digital technologies. ETDA’s highlights will be showcased in the ETDA Pavilion, exhibiting important accomplishments and campaigns of ETDA, including Cybersecurity Park, e-Commerce Park, Digital Tourism, Durian Platform, Big Data Analytics and Digital ID. Meanwhile, national and international sponsors and partners are preparing to exhibit never-seen-before technologies in the areas of Cybersecurity, e-Commerce and Digital Technology in their own designated exhibition zones.

At the same time, within the event, there will also be seminars from leading experts both Thai and international, who will be coming together to offer in-depth knowledge in over 30 topics, across the 3 full days. More than that, the event also has a zone for Job Matching with leading companies in the digital industry, allowing students, employees and citizens to be able to apply for jobs in the fields of Digital Technology, e-Commerce, Cybersecurity, Digital Financial, Internet and much more within these companies on the spot. This also demonstrates that there is still a rising demand for expertise in e-Commerce and digital technology within the current job market. Additionally, the event also has Knowledge Sharing Class, offering free informative courses for the development of businesses and human resources in specialized areas, such as e-Tax Invoice, Trusted e-Document, building confidence in the security of electronic documents, and sharing information about GDPR, which offers information about the methods of protecting privacy data.

The event will highlight 3 important topics, focusing on one topic per day. The first day will focus on “Future Economy”: what the economy in the future will look like, showing what disruptions will come with AI, the future of Quantum Computing, the rise of Blockchain Technology and how to innovate the technology for use. Day 2, “Today’s Economy Waiting to Change” will be about what is changing in the economy today, and what needs to change, information and data on the e-Commerce market, and the use of content to create uniqueness for businesses.
